Dear <First Name>,

In just a few years the Public Library of Science (PLoS) has established a set of high-profile open access scientific journals that enjoy a strong reputation in the research community.

We are now undertaking some research into the needs and opinions of scientists who have submitted manuscripts to PLoS journals, about our publishing services and products. We have developed an online questionnaire that addresses many of the issues on which we would like to hear your views.

We hope that you will spare a little time to answer the questions. To encourage you in this task, we will enter the names of all respondents whose completed questionnaires we receive by the closing date of 14 July in a prize draw and the first three names drawn at random will each win an Amazon token to the value of US$50.

Please do complete this questionnaire, which will take approximately ten minutes of your time. It is only with the help and advice of scientists like yourself that PLoS can continue to develop publications that suit your needs.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Patterson
Director of Publishing
Public Library of Science
